Tokyo Day Trip to Enoshima Island
Enoshima island is one of my favourite places for a day trip from Tokyo. I love the ocean air, the view of Kamakura and Mt Fuji, and the shrines and small shops around the island. This Sunday I took a day off from the busy city to visit the onsen at Enoshima Island Spa. It turned out to be even better than I had imagined.
Spending a cold winter day in the warm water of the onsen was perfect. After a short walk up to Enoshima Shrine I spent the afternoon relaxing in the Japanese onsen and sauna. In the evening I watched the sunset from the outdoor pool and it was a spectacular view.
It was a cold winter day and Mt Fuji was white with snow. At sunset Mt Fuji turned dark and the sky glowed orange. On the other side, the moon came up shining like a round lantern over Kamakura. It was like being immersed in a beautiful Japanese ukiyo-e painting.
