Try Learning About Japanese Language and Culture before Considering Lessons

Before taking haiku lessons, you're better off learning some Japanese first. Without any understanding of the language or culture, you will simply be learning about a poem format and have no cultural context to truly understand Haiku. When you're ready for lessons, you can look to a Japanese language school in Japan or even at home. Many community colleges incorporate Haiku into their Japanese classes.
