Hamarikyu Garden, Beautiful and Ancient Garden in Japan
Check Out Japan's Beautiful Garden
My favourite park in Tokyo is Hamarikyu Garden, right by Shiodome station. I was actually just there the other day and the scenery of the tranquil lakes with Japanese style bridges and gazebos was breathtaking. Entrance is only about 250 yen for and adult and the garden is perfect for a 3-4 hours of exploring the grounds. There are many rest houses in the garden and even a tea house where you can enjoy traditional Japanese maccha green tea, made right in front of you, with a Japanese sweet.
The historical aspect of the garden, that it used to be used by the Shogun for falconry, is also interesting.
If you are going to visit, I recommend combining it with a tour of the Asakusa/Sky Tree area because there is a boat that takes you from Asakusa directly into Hamarikyu, along the Sumidagawa River.
Enjoy!
