Catering can be extremely easy!
Take-out can be very easy as long as you know how to say several information in Japanese or simple English.
Let's say that you want to take-out pizza. First, you should pick the soba you want by looking at the menu online or on the flyer. Before you call, you should know how to write the address of where you are staying, If it's a hotel, it may be sufficient to say the hotel name and where the hotel is (Roppongi, Ebisu, near Tokyo Station, Minatomirai, etc.). If you are staying at friend's house or rented an apartment, you should read out the address. Furthermore, write down the phone number of where you are staying, just in case the take-out place can call you if the deliverer is unsure of where you are.
When you call, the catering service will probably have difficulties communicating in English. Do not worry! Read out the type of pizza that you want (sometimes if the menu has numbers corresponding to the dishes, it is easier to say those) and how many of each. Then say the address and phone number of where you are staying! Although it depends on the type of food and how far the restaurant is, the delivery usually takes only 30 minutes! If it doesn't come in 45 minutes, you may want to try calling again to make sure that your food is coming.
