Enoshima - "Jewel of Shonan" Festival

One of the three major illumination spots in the Kanto area - Until Feb.1

Enoshima Island has been lit up for the "Jewel of Shonan" Festival, with delightful night time illuminations at various locations, including the Sea Candle Lighthouse, Samuel Cocking Garden, some of the local cafes and restaurants. It is chosen as one of the three major illumination spots in the Kanto area by the Night View Summit, which evaluates night views throughout Japan.

The Enoshima winter illumination started from the end of November. Over 40,000 will light up the Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden on top of the island near the lighthouse every night from 17:00 until Sunday, 1 February. It would be lovely to take a walk up to the garden and explore the island.

"Jewel of Shonan" Festival

Period: November 29 - February 1
Venue: Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden, Enoshima Sea Candle, Kamegaoka Square, Nakatsumiya Square, Enoshima Iwaya (Grottos), etc.

Light up time:
17:00-20:00 during the weekdays and from 12/31-1/1 (last entry 19:30)
17:00-21:00 on the weekends and 12/22-12/30, 1/2-1/6(last entry 20:30)

My recommendation is to combine this with visit to Enoshima Island Spa(Enospa). At the Enospa, you can enjoy a relaxing natural hot spring bath in the cryspy winter air, while watching the sunset behind Mount Fuji, with the added bonus of viewing the lovely illuminations around the island. Especially in the winter time they have many clear days with a good view of the iconic volcano.

Their Night Spa discount currently starts from 6pm. Only with 1,705 yen per person, you have access to all pool and hot spring facilities and towel and spa robe included with entrance. No reservation required for entrance. Please enjoy!
