Places to feel like locals in Asakusa
A Hidden Underground Arcade in Asakusa
Do you know the third oldest underground passage in Japan is at Asakusa Station? The street is connected to a ticket gate of Ginza Line and the entrance of Shin-Nakamise Street. Most of the tenants are restaurants such as Sushi, Soba, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai foods. You also find a fortune-teller, a bodywork therapist and a barber.
I specially recommend Thai food restaurant, which is so yummy. Once you visit here, you feel like you are locals.
Kamiya Bar
The building of Kamiya Bar stands at Asakusa 1-1-1. Kamiya Bar started its business in 1880 as a bar. The famous cocktail of Kamiya Bar is Denki-Bran, a very strong alcohol.
Ground floor: Bar and liquor shop
Second floor: Western style restaurant
Third floor: Japanese style restaurant
Hoppy Street
Hoppy is a beer-taste alcohol-free beverage, usually drinking with Shochu liquor. Many bars line up along this street. Try a cocktail of Hoppy with Gyusuji (stewed beef) or Nikujaga (beef and potato stew).
