Hamamatsu Kite Festival

The Kite battle

May 3rd to the 5th the Kite battle begins at Nakatajima park Hamamatsu.
These kites are not something you would find at Toys-r-us.
It takes 10 to 15 people to lift one of these kites into the air!
Each kite represents a cho or an area where you live.

Any group member that had a new born child this year their kites are raised into the air.
One after another the kites are lifted into the air.

Over 50 kites are up in the air and some of the ropes get tangled with others.
Some ropes snap and loose their kites. Some remain in the air all day long!

This event happens every one a year, during the day time the kite show is at Nakatajima Park.
