La Folle Journee au Japon
Concerto and Serenade around Tokyo and Marunouchi
If you happen to be in Tokyo during the "Golden Week" as you should prefer to, you can spend time walking the streets of Marunouchi and discover street performances and concerto.
What is Golden Week: it is a week blessed with so many national holiday that you do not work at all during that week. And, Japanese people love that so much that they have nicknamed this week "Golden".
Why would you want to stay in Tokyo ? Because, everyone else has left the city to go either on holiday, or back in the family in the province. This is the only period of the year during which you can enjoy Tokyo alone (well, nearly alone).
La Folle Journee celebrates a composer every year but this year is special. It is the 10th time that this event is organised so to celebrate it, this year features 10 composers from 17th to the 20th: From Vivaldi to Garshuin, with a chance to listen to Mozart, Beethoven, Shubert, Chopin, Litz, Shuman, Tchaikovsky,Dvorak, Foret, Ravel, Debussy, Rashmaninov and Brahms.
3 full days dedicated to classic music around Marunouchi and Yurakucho. 8 stages + some street and station corners. 50 concerts a day. 150 concerts during 3 days. So many artists and interpretors.
This is getting me dizzy... I am ready for a very rock-and-roll golden Week in Tokyo! And are you?
